It was nice to hear you guys talking about MyChingo.

You’ll be pleased to know that when MobaTalk is ready as a wordpress plugin for the masses, in addition to the normal text comments like this one, it will also allow online recordable audio and video comments, uploadedable audio and video comments, comments via MMS and Email, telephone dial-in comments, and includes the ability to upload an image with the comment.

All of the built-in WordPress administrative functions which you are used to, will still control your blog comments, and if you are using the Akismet feature, spam is really not a problem.

In the future, when people leaving a comment on your blog have a public MobaTalk API Key of their own, media attachments which they include with their comments on your blog will also be available on their public MobaTalk profile, with a link to your blog.

We’re also planning on a sort of MobaTalk Knapsack feature, which would allow any previously attached media to become readily accessible to the member for use when commenting on a different blog.

MobaTalk membership is NOT required for people to leave comments on your blog, but if they are in fact a member, then it does have it’s rewards!

You can get a sneak preview while we’re working on it over at http://demoblog.mobatalk.com

    Thanks,

    Michael B

I always thought Jules was actually spelled Jewels and referred to Julien’s Family Jewels…

Hmmm…sounds like a subject for an Uninformed Biography….

hehe Julien, did you also know that Chingo was a volcano which is between Guatemala and Argentina? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chingo

It means “friends” in Korean http://www.gintonglahi.com/index.php?view=gallery&viewitem=179
and there is a rapper named Chingo Bling http://www.chingobling.com

Seems a shame that one particular derivation spoils the entire bunch, but that’s the way it goes – anyhow, it will all be MobaTalk soon enough!

:) We’re looking forward to being at PodCamp next weekend!

I really enjoyed the show Mark and Bob, especially hearing from Andrea regarding her behind the scenes work with JOMB.

Re. the CNN report, I posted the following comment on Podcast Lounge but I thought I’d post it here as well.

    Re. CNN report:

It seems to me that most of what was talked about in the article comes from an ‘industrial’ mindset focused on the production of goods and the private consumption of those goods. The mindset here is about technologizing the contemporary world.

A shame really because so much of the potential of new technologies/ new literacies, such as, collective participation, collaboration, and distributed expertise were totally left out of the discussion. This second mindset acknowledges the world is changing and that new internetworked technologies are part of the reason for this change. So the question raised by the second mindset, is what are some new ways of doing things and new ways of being made possible by these new tools. Questions which really were not addressed (except for the Temple U cardiologist).

    My two cents.

At our school, Algoma University (you belong here tm, gotta throw in the plug) I podcast all my lectures on one feed. I have an insane number of subscribers, we have like 1200 students in my school and shall we say at least an order of magnitude more listeners. This is all my project, no real support from IT (though I have not asked for it either). Now I have the University’s support, such as it is. I have wordpress installed on my faculty webspace and I bootleg the (unimilted) space that thunderbird six (www.thunderbirdsix.org, look for a Cory Doctorow interview this coming week, another shameless plus) for the mp3s. It is fun to email with everyone from a Danish cable guy that bought an mp3 player just to listen to my lectures while he installs cable to students from around the world and a prof in New Zealand that has his students listen to me and write papers on my lectures. This stuff touches people all over. It is the epitomoe of what knowledge should be, free but with attribution, sorta like a creative commons license….

The most fun is getting emails from bands that I use for theme music. “Dude, you used our song in a lecture, that rocks….’
